God continues to bless us and hold us through the gift of Justin’s extraordinary friends. This beautiful story is from his very dear friends, Wayne and Maria, who he met at Franciscan University. I received a beautiful letter from Maria today with the following memory of Justin. Maria writes,
“Probably my favorite Easter memory involves Justin. And, in fact,
listening to a lovely trumpet solo any time of the year brings back
memories of one particular Easter Vigil. The entire fieldhouse was
dark during the chanting of the Exultet, and as Father’s voice faded
away, the silence was pregnant. 2,500 people– in the quiet ofexpectation. Then Justin’s trumpet split the silence for the intro:
“Give Glory to God in the Highest” and the fieldhouse bell rang out with it. It seemed like that trumpet, so beautifully played, brought the Gloria to life,- dead for 40 days, and now arisen in joy. I was up on the sound/video balcony and the notes were incredibly clear and piercing. The lights began to flicker on and I looked over to Wayne: “He is Risen; Indeed He is risen!” I know faith is more than feelings, but the overpowering awe and majesty from that one Gloria was unmistakable. He was a bit nervous about that solo, but played it flawlessly.”
“…For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” 1 Corinthians 15:52
What a beautiful sharing of memories!
