We stole away on our only free morning in San Antonio and headed to the missions built by Spain in the 1700’s. My breath caught as we approached Mission San Jose, the morning light combined with the architecture of the stone walls was other-worldly. Below are some of my favorite moments as we toured the four missions churches.

Terri-
These are art! You have a great eye, my friend!
Thank you Liz! I can still close my eyes and feel the sun. I kept on touching the walls, the stories they could tell!
Beautiful captures, Terri! You really got the essence and the spirituality of the place!
Thank you Deirdre! There is an other-worldly feel to the grounds, echos of the past. Plotting our return someday!
Oh my. What beautiful photos. So glad you enjoyed your trip!
Thank you Estelle! Sometimes the anticipation is the best part, and the actual experience is not what you imagined. But our trip to San Antonio was beyond what I could have dreamed. Thanks so much for stopping by!
Your photos are absolutely stunning, Terry! But, yes, that last one is precious, priceless and memorable. That dog is simply adorable!
I was in San Antonio for a business event a few years ago on the Riverwalk. It didn’t allow for any free time, but I wish I could have toured around a bit. Now I know why! Thanks for sharing this gorgeous post.
Thank you Cathy! The gentleman had such a spring in his step and a sparkle to his entire face, the two of them were quite a pair!
I am beginning to think that San Antonio would make a lovely venue for a blogger’s gathering, with some built in free time to tour and share all the beauty. Thank you for taking the time to visit and comment.
I agree with Liz~ these are not just pictures they are art! So remarkable I’ve always wanted to visit San Antonio!
Thank you Rena, what wonderful encouragement. Thank you also for taking the time to stop by, I know your time is not your own. If you ever get a chance, go! There is something very special about San Antonio, I am still missing the golden light. I hope you had a great weekend!
Beautiful pictures! You have a good eye. I had no idea you were so multi-talented.
Thank you Annika. Doug has been incredibly supportive and encouraging with my photography. He has endless patience with my endless questions.
Hi Terri! I have been to San Antonio but never made it to the mission. Now I’m sad about that except for the fact that you’ve captured them in such a lovely way. Thank you! ~Kathy
Thank you Kathy for your kind words. And thank you for taking the time to stop by and comment. I hope one day you get to go back to San Antonio, we would love to return one day.
San Antonio’s my hometown. The mission’s have always played a big role in my life. Here’s one of my stories from Mission San Jose. http://www.1010parkplace.com/murder-among-the-ruins/

Dear Brenda,
Thank you for taking the time to visit and for sharing your post. I am profoundly touched and honored. Wishing you the peace that is beyond all understanding. I felt moments of that peace standing within the mission walls and resting my hands on the stone walls.
